Hit the beach in Maui! 🌺🏖️ Locals and tourists alike are racing to claim the perfect seaside spot—lay out your towels, enjoy the stunning Hawaiian views, and earn big points by creating beautiful patterns in the sand!
In Maui, each player manages their own beach board, aiming to strategically place 13 towels across seven rows. The goal? Match colorful towel patterns, while placing them close to the ocean for breathtaking views or in the shade for cool comfort—just don’t get too close, or your beachgoers might have a bad day!
🏖️ During setup:
Place eight umbrellas randomly on designated spots of your board.
Each player starts with a random towel in the leftmost column—every towel shows three distinct patterns.
Six towel tiles are placed in the market (two rows), along with a sand dollar in each row.
🎲 On your turn, choose:
Collect all sand dollars from one market row, or
Take a towel from the market (costing 0, 1, or 2 sand dollars), then pay the sand dollars back to the row it came from.
🧺 When placing a towel:
You must align at least one pattern with the towel directly to its left—more matches mean more points!
For each matching pattern, move its scoring marker ahead 1–3 spaces on the score track.
The closer the towel is to the ocean or shade, the more points it earns. But beware—placing towels off the edge of your board results in penalties.
☂️ Covering umbrellas grants bonuses—advance a pattern’s score or earn valuable pearls (worth points in the endgame).
🦀 For an added challenge, flip your board to the sand crab side! Each crab you cover scuttles onto your towel, ruining one pattern and costing you points.
The game ends when a player fills their final towel slot. Finish the round, tally points from patterns, pearls, and leftover sand dollars—and see who made the most of their Maui getaway!
