2011 Ion Award Best Strategy Game Winner
Pizza Theory is a clever and strategic game for exactly three players, where every round is full of surprises—even though there’s no randomness in the mechanics!
Each player takes on the role of a passionate pizza chef, each with a different vision for the perfect pie. Armed with a pizza cutter stick, a die, and their own set of toppings, players compete to dominate the pizza—one slice at a time.
🍕 How it works:
To start, each chef places two toppings on marked spots on the pizza board.
Each round, players take turns adding one topping to the board—but it can’t be adjacent to one of their own.
Then, each secretly chooses a number (1–6) on their die, reveals it, and places their pizza cutter in the corresponding spot.
The cutters slice the pizza into unique segments—216 possible layouts!—and the battle for topping dominance begins.
In each slice:
If you have more toppings than either opponent, you replace theirs with your own.
If there’s a tie between two players, the third gets removed—but no one takes over.
In a three-way tie, toppings stay put.
And if a player only has one or fewer toppings in each slice, they’re safe from takeover that round.
The first player to place all 16 of their toppings on the board wins!
👥 2-player mode: The game uses a dummy third chef. Players take turns placing that chef’s toppings, and if they’re all placed before either player wins—both lose!
With no luck and lots of strategy, Pizza Theory is a battle of brains and bold moves—served hot and fresh every time you play.
